Tables in Wonderland Restaurant

Skipper Canteen is my favorite restaurant in Magic Kingdom. The ambiance, the food, the service is all top notch! You feel like you are walking into a true jungle navigation camp. It is located in Adventureland right across from the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.

The Food: 10/10

Explore the bold, flavorful cuisine of Asia, South America, and Africa with the help of some daring riverboat pilots.

Orinoco Ida's Cachapas

And you thought our jokes were corny! House-made Corn Pancakes, Mojo-braised Pork, Black Bean Salad, and Avocado Cream

These were light and refreshing. They had the perfect combination of pork to pancake, and the avacado cream is served on the side.

Ginger's "Croc" of Hot-and-Sour Soup

Flavored with Ginger "not the crocodile," Garlic, Soy Sauce, and Rice Wine Vinegar finished with fresh Egg, Tofu, and Wood Ear Mushrooms

I love Hot and Sour soup. I've had it from dozens of different restaurants and this one beats them all. It is spiced just right, perfect temperature and well worth the price.

Dr. Falls' Signature Grilled Steak

Churrasco-marinated New York Strip Steak, Mashed Plantains, Toasted Brazil Nut-Pesto topped with Farofa

I do not generally order steak inside the parks mainly because they are New York strips usually (not the cut I prefer), but dang this steak was good! Cooked and served medium rare and seasoned liberally. The mashed plantains were a wonderful compliment to it. At first I thought I was going to prefer regular potatoes, but the plantains have won me over. They are sweet but not too sweet and the consistency is creamy delicious.

"Tastes like Chicken" - Because it is!

Crispy-fried Chicken with Citrus and Ginger-scented Rice, Chili Glaze, and Seasonal Vegetables

Leah ordered the this delicious chicken and it was very crispy and  juicy.  It paired well with the chili glaze, giving it a bit of sweet and spicy.   The steamed vegetables were a bit limp, but still good.  The ginger-scented rice was a nice touch.

Trader Sam's Head-on Shrimp

Sustainable Local Farm-raised Shrimp tossed in a Chili-Garlic Sauce and served with Chinese Broccoli and Jasmine Rice

My mom enjoys  this dish so much, she's gotten it both times we were here.  The shrimp are succulate and packed with flavor.  They are cooked perfectly, being meaty without mealy.  The steamed chinese broccoli and jasmine rice make this a nice light dinner.

Sizzling Savanna Grilled Flank Steak - Kids Meal

served with Steamed Broccoli, Fingerling Potatoes, and fresh Seasonal Fruit with choice of Small Low-fat Milk or Small Dasani® Water. Meets Disney Nutrition Guidelines for Complete Meals with out substitutions

This was my nephew's meal and he loved it. He was pleasantly surprised to find steak on a kids menu. I was surprised also, most places don't put steak on the kids menu.  He's not a big veggie eater, but then what kid is?  He did enjoy the crispy potatoes but left the steam broccoli behind.

The Service: 10/10

The service here is fantastic. Our most recent server was John. He was Kind and funny. He told us the story of how skipper canteen came to be. It is a fun story so make sure you ask about it, if your server doesn't automatically tell you. The only mistake, was he did not ask if we were using the dining plan or any other discounts. Which we were using Tables in Wonderland. Other than that the service was pleasant and fast.

The Price: 7/10

Lets face it, no table service restaurant is going to get a 10/10 for pricing. But overall the pricing for what you received was very good, especially the kids meal. It is the cheapest table service in Magic Kingdom and the best food so that is a plus.
