Disney’s Art of
Animation
Art of Animation is
my favorite value resort at Disney. It is perfect for families of 4-6 people.
Hotel theming is outstanding, and the art is true Disney Imagineers!
Each visit I tour the resort and really look at everything they have
done. The family suites are the best in the value resort category, which is why
they price at a premium verses the other value resorts.
Each family suite is
equipped with a separate king bedroom and bath with a roomy shower. The
main living area has a sofa bed and a murphy bed. The Murphy Bed also
doubles as the kitchen/dining table. There is a fully equipped kitchen,
which is perfect for having meals in your suite. There is also another
full bath in the main area.
Art of Animation
consists of 4 sections: The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo and
Cars.
Finding Nemo
Suites:
These are the main
family suites and considered preferred rooms, since they are closest to the
food court and transportation. From my experience, Nemo suites tend be more
expensive than the other family suites and is usually more crowded in the pool
area. The pool here is fantastic, it is big with the depth of roughly 5ft. It
has a water fountain play area for small children and has giant figurines from
Finding nemo.
The Lion King
Suites:
Lion King suites are
well themed and just as nice as the others, but they lack the pool, so you have
walk to Nemo pool or little Mermaid pool. Not a huge deal since everything is
close together. A benefit of not having a pool is it is quieter in that area.
The Lion King suites are located right next to the food court and
transportation. In between the 2 buildings are recreation of scenes from the
lion king movie. Take a picture with Scar and Hyenas, Simba, Timon & Pumba
and Mufasa (Or adult Simba it depends on who you ask) I think it is Mufasa.
Cars Suites:
These are my personal
favorite suites, probably because I love the movie Cars. You get everyone from
the Cars One. Doc Hudson and the sheriff hang out on your way to radiator
springs. Lighting, Mator and Sally also have statues in the Cars section. The buildings
are situated around the Cozy Cone motel, otherwise known as the Cars pool. This
is my favorite pool. It is usually less crowded and offer cabanas that look
like cones. I burn under normal lights so getting covered areas in Florida is a
necessity!
The Little Mermaid
Standard Rooms:
Themed as well as the
rest, but these are standard rooms which mean they are only suited for up to 4
people. Little mermaid area has its own under the sea themed pool. This
area also has premium pricing for a value resort.
Dining
Food Court – one of
the best of all value resorts. It has so many food choices, healthy and
not so healthy. It’s a very large food court, so never feels crowded and
you are always able to find a nice area to sit.
Pool Bar – Located in
the Nemo pool area is outside the gated pool area and serves delicious adult
beverages as well as non-alcoholic beverages, and casual food choices.
Pizza Delivery (4 pm
to midnight)
Recreation
There are 3 pools
with the feature pool being in the Finding Nemo section. As well as a
children’s water play area. And general children’s play area
In the lobby, there
is an arcade, if you use this bring $$$. I’m not a fan of spending
additional money when there is so much else you can be doing that is already
included in your package.
There is also a lake
with walking paths, great for walking and running. It connects to Pop
Century so you can go and view Pop Century. Along the lake there are signs with
fun facts about Disney’s animated movies and what happened in history. I like
to wake up and take a relaxing stroll around before going into the craziness of
the parks.
Transportation
The only
transportation offered right now is the Buses, although there is speculation
that they will be receiving a gondola type system in the future. Transportation
will take you to the theme parks, water parks and Disney springs.
Hint* you can take
either AoA bus or Pop century bus since they are connected. Obviously if you
take the Pop bus you will have to take the bridge across the lake but it’s a
nice walk and better than standing in line waiting for a bus.
